|10:20 pm - Google maps ...|
Google Maps (the satellite photo version) seems to have exapanded their coverage.
Alas, the central parts of Edinburgh and Glasgow aren't covered yet, but we do have places like Dumbarton Castle, or The Football (Aussie Rules) Ground Formerly Known As Football Park, or Adelaide Uni from above, or ... Hey, dmw & co, I can see your house from up here :-)
Current Mood: impressed

Hey that's cool. And I found my house. :-)

That's very cool. I wonder how old the picture is... I can't see any of our cars in the back yard, but I can see the neighbours RV, and his tent isn't up...
There's been a SlashDot discussion about the recent map upgrades, and it seems that some of the photos are up to 5 years old.

It's nice to be able to browse the old town. Although the high-resolution coverage ends abruptly about half a kilometre from my parents house. If it didn't, I might be able to date the pictures by the state of linear park.
I thought there were some newer buildings in Adelaide Uni than these?
Hmmm. It seems to have the new Maths/Eng building (right-hand side near Frome Rd, white square roof and a grey square roof next to it at an angle), and the new biochem (?) building to the north of that. If there's been anything else built since, I haven't seen it in my occasional visits since moving to Melbourne, and no-one's LJed about it ...
|It's at least a year old as it's lacking the North terrace redevelopment changes and the attempt to put an elevator outside my office.|
