07:05 am - Fuel economy and prices ...
Curiosity strikes again. I'm interested in getting as many answers as possible for this one - feel free to link it around.

Note : I'm trying to cater for UK, US and Australian measurements (darn those different gallon sizes !) - "m" = miles (not metres), "km" = kilometres.

I'm not sure what miles per gallon I get, actually, so I've just put the book value on. My tank takes 40 l although I fill it when it's a 5th full. I top it up on average every three weeks and I must do around 75 miles a week so my really bad arithmetic takes that to around 45 miles per gallon.

Oh good, I thought I was the only one sitting here with a calculator going "ok, I normally fill it up about nowish, which'd be about 450kmish, and it takes, um, lots... um.."

I have no idea what the book value is for mine either. I think I may have lost the book.

Currently...

... I only get about 22, 23 mpg, I think. OTOH, I'm clearly on the lower end in terms of how much I'm paying per gallon.

In the Old Days (like more than 2 years ago or so) I drove a VW Diesel Rabbit which averaged 45mpg+, even in winter, and in one memorable drive managed to hit something like 60mpg or more. (big helping wind from the rear)
