05:47 pm - Masterchef ...
So, once again, I seem to find myself watching Masterchef (Aus version). This is a bit strange, because I'm not any kind of foodie, and I'm not interested in eating 90% of the dishes they cook, but something about the show keeps me watching.

However ...
Was it just me, or did last nights episode (with the Dalai Lama and random other religious figures) jump the shark, in a big way ?
Really, what were the producers thinking ? Do they have no respect for what he stands for ?

Meanwhile, I've been very amused by the nicely snarky recaps in The Age, they remind me a bit of the TWoP recaps of BSG.

We've just watched that episode. There were parts of it that were very touching and respectful, but not because of the producers or judges.

(Plus, of course, we were spotting bits of Melbourne around the Centre and shouting "Been There !!!")

I've always preferred the Aus one to the UK one - I like the look of the Indian one but it's not in English so I find it difficult to follow, and the US one is just an Abomination in the Face of the Lord. But this season has seemed over-edited, sexist,. possibly faked up, and more stressful.

And yes, I keep an eye on The Age as well.

You could hardly call my children foodies either, but my daughter got quite quite hooked on the first series of Masterchef. I think they design these things to suck you in. Thankfully we have managed to avoid most of this most recent series. I haven't heard much good about it.
