|09:08 pm - Also ...|
Have been randomly friending various people from WorldCon and elsewhere - usually people that I spoke to at least a little bit, but sometimes just because you seem interesting or have some vague connection with fandom[*], or maybe just because you live somewhere in Scotland.
Right, enough LJ, time for the Dead Dog party ...
[*] Used here to refer to the overall collective of Science Fiction fandom of all sorts (lit/media/other, sf/fantasy/other, etc). I think it's a pity that fan-fiction writers seem to use fandom to refer to the set of fans of some particular work or set of related works - obviously we need to invent another umbrella term to cover the whole darn lot of us.

**has sudden urges to find out where the term "dead dog" comes from, anyway**

...rhyming with what, though?

"grog" ... come and drink up the leftover alcohol.
Or alternatively (or in addition?), from what seems to be an American phrase of limited usage: "Until the last dog is hung".

Alternatively alternatively, it could of course just refer to what most of the people at the party are feeling like...

I was wondering how you found my LJ. I've never thought of myself writing 'fandom' (as in fan fiction, which I don't do), but as a sf/f writer, yeah, I'd fit :D
I envy you going to worldcon, I'd really wanted to go. Timing stank though, we had to do 2 trips to the airport that week, for family. :(
Glad to meetcha! I'll be adding you back.
I wont be adding you back to americantourist
, don't take it wrong, but I never use that friends list anyway. feath
is the only one I read/reply with.
... now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure how I found your LJ !
It probably wasn't from viewing my friendsfriends page, because we don't seem to have any LJ friends in common.
Ah, it was through the little_details
community, and I think I noticed the cute jumping cat icon first :-)
Anyway, WorldCon was very cool - there is another chance to see a Glasgow Con, with next year's Eastercon (Concussion)
being held at the Moat House hotel.
