Geeky Excel thought ...

The other day, I realised that Excel's so-called "PivotTables" are just dressed-up SQL Select / Group By expressions.
I wish they'd just explain them that way in the first place, rather than leaving them as vaguely defined possibly-useful things.

(Also wish they'd picked a different name, because "pivot" is a term for a standard matrix operation, and I kept running across the Excel kind when I was searching for the matrix kind).
