And then Wednesday was the 3rd wedding anniversary for
Since ... some time early in August, I've been getting back into juggling, and have gone along to the local juggling club most weeks since we got back from the Discworld-and-bits-of-England holiday. It's good to know I can still do it - I managed to get 300 catches of 5 balls the other week, and qualified 6 balls (12 catches) too. I have a new toy, err, prop, to play with - rings. Just barely managed to qualify 5 of those, too. I have a go at 7 balls each week, but it's not even looking much like a pattern yet - as compared to the four or five other people at the club also having a go at 7.
Last weekend we were at the Highland Open in Inverness. I lost to Person A and Person B in the first round of pools (A was unexpected, B has beaten me before a few times, I just can't seem to figure him out). In the second round of pools, I won three bouts 5-0 ... and lost to Person B again. Then in the DE, my first bout was against ... Person A, of course - this time I fenced carefully and won comfortably, 15-6. My reward for that, of course, was a bout against Person B, yet again. At least I had a new tactic to try out - retreat to my end of the piste and wait and counter-attack from there, and it worked enough to get me 9-5 ahead at the first break. Unfortunately, he (and/or his friends and family) figured out this tactic during the break, and he came back after and kept getting through with his attacks. I tried changing things around after that, but I was tiring too, and he won 15-12. Oh well, there's always next year ... (although I'm sure that's what I said last year after losing to the same person in the semi-final). Meanwhile, the mother of one of the competitors in the women's sabre was attracting rather more attention than parents of fencers usually do. Her initials are R, J and K, not neccesarily in that order.
This weekend ... I'm going nowhere ! Will probably stay home and juggle and catch up on LJ and the 100 or so tabs I have open in Firefox and play lots of Spellforce (RPG/RTS hybrid, and lots of fun). Should also tidy up the house a little ... and it may even happen.
