The only time I've used it in years was when the Joyce Hatto scandal broke and I wanted to hang out with the geeks on rec.arts.music.classical.whinge or whatever the group was.
To be honest, I put that answer in hoping that more than one person would answer. Even more amusing if neither of them had been James Nicoll, of course.
I don't think I've used it since Angel ended.

Admittedly my impression that usenet is dying comes from alt.tv.red-dwarf, which may not be the best example. I mean, yeah, that's dying but there are other factors involved.
