Earlier this year I knocked my left knee in such a way that I gave myself "insertional tendonitis", a painful way of saying "don't go to fencing because it hurts to go en garde". I got treated by a doctor and a physio, and it's mostly improving, but I've come to the conclusion that running (even a few hundred metres trying to catch a train) does it no good whatsoever - whereas I cycled to fencing last night, fenced a few bouts, had a 30 minute lesson, and cycled home, and my knee was feeling quite reasonable afterwards (and today). So, no running from now on ...
