There are easter eggs in shops. And rwrylsin saw a hot cross bun.
It's January ! Can't they leave us in slightly-less-commercialised peace for a month or so after Christmas ?
Current Mood: Boggled.

No. Because then we would forget that it's Easter. And Easter is early this year! Buy now and turn it into another spendfest!
The bit that irritates me about this (apart from Dean being hooked on hot cross buns and buying them from now until two weeks after Easter when they'll disappear again) is the attempt to get us to buy presents for Easter. No, that's not part of Easter. Never was. But if you watched the ads you'd think it was.
It's bad enough having chocolate surrounding me for the next two months without them attempting to guilt trip me into buying more crap too.

Even people living in Scotland need something to look forward to?
Watch it, or we'll visit Adelaide and bring the Scottish weather with us.
I saw hot cross buns being put on sale in the local super market Two Days After Christmas!
talk about a little early, I mean, they'd be stale when it comes time to actually EAT Them!

Easter eggs, as well as hot cross buns, have been spreading through supermarkets here ever since things reopened after new years day holiday.
I hate the fact it happens so fast and is so pushed, but on the other hand.. last year I saw a steadily improving stream of hot cross buns at my local Safeway, leading me to think it really did take that apprentice baker a good month to work out how to pipe the crosses on properly and add the correct number of chocolate chips!

They have certainly become a standard year round item in Australian supermarkets. Why, I don;t know.

What passes for hot cross buns in this country tend to be very close to bread roles with a touch of spice and a few raisins. Not exactly unpleasant but nothing to pick over the bunoptions either.
But we haven't finished our Nikolaustag chocolates yet, let alone the chocolate that we were given for Christmas... if I get Easter eggs as well, I'll have enough to last through til next Christmas!

I asked the very same thing. The answer I recewived was:
"All you money are belong to us! Now! Now!! NOW!!!
|Although all the hot cross buns I have seen recently have been supporting Red Cross and their Tsunami relief efforts. So it gives me a moral imperative to eat them.|
That's my excuse and I am sticking to it.
